8:00am-9:45am Tax Reform: The New Pass Through Entity Deduction
One of the most complex and far reaching provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was new Code Section 199A: the new pass through entity deduction. Contrary to what your clients might believe from the press, they do not automatically get a 20% deduction against pass through income. Some do; some don’t. The language of the statute is complex and has already been the subject of a technical correction related to farmers. This session looks at 199A, provides lots of examples and raises a number of questions on which we don’t yet have guidance.
