Kurt Oestriecher, CPA will join TXCPA East Texas on July 25 at the Ornelas Activity Center in Tyler to present two great courses.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. and the seminar begins at 8:30 a.m.
Applying the Audit Risk Assessment Standards (4hrs)
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The Risk Assessment Standards (SAS 104-111) were issued in order to require auditors to perform procedures related to risk assessment so that an auditor would properly allocate resources to obtain evidence in areas that had higher risks of misstatements. These standards have been incorporated into various checklists and practice aids provided by third party vendors and it is critical that the auditor that is using these practice aids have a thorough understanding of the underlying standards.
This course takes a step-by-step approach in identifying the requirements of the risk assessment standards, discussion of how to apply those standards, documentation of the standards, and ultimately how to link the further audit procedures to the results of the risk assessment.
Lunch: 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Performing Compilation and Preparation Engagements (4hrs)
12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The Accounting and Review Services Committee of the AICPA (ARSC) develops the SSARS. There are now three levels of engagements in the SSARS: Preparation, Compilation, and Review. This course covers the two engagements that do not provide assurance: compilation and preparation. The SSARS also now extend to engagements other than historical financial statements such as specified items, elements, and accounts, pro-forma financial information, and prospective financial information.
If you perform compilation and preparation engagements under SSARS, this course is an absolute must. An in-depth discussion of both of these services will provide the necessary guidance to ensure that you are completing your engagements within standards.
