ETCPA holds an annual golf tournament as our major fundraiser on behalf of the Educational Fund, and all proceeds after direct tournament expenses are used to fund scholarships.
As you know, an accounting major who wants to sit for the CPA exam must now complete a 150 hour, (i.e.-5 year) degree program. The cost of this extra year of education will ultimately impact businesses that rely on CPA’s, as well as public accounting firms. Our chapter believes that having scholarship dollars available for students may make the difference in a student’s decision to work towards the five-year accounting degree versus a four-year degree. The result will be professionals who are more qualified to deal with today’s business environment. This is great for the student and for all of us who employ and work with accountants in our businesses.
