Midland Accountant Elected Chairman of Texas CPA Society
Larry Edgerton Named New Leader of 27,000-Member Organization

DALLAS — Midland certified public accountant Larry Edgerton was recently elected chairman of the 27,000-member Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).

Edgerton was officially elected June 24 at the organization’s annual meeting and will serve a one-year term as the society’s volunteer leader. As TSCPA’s top volunteer, he will chair the organization’s board of directors, which sets policy, manages programs and oversees activities designed to serve Texas CPAs.

During his tenure, Edgerton will focus on listening to member concerns and needs and meeting the goals of TSCPA’s new strategic plan.

Joining Edgerton as TSCPA officers next year are Jerry Love, chairman-elect, Abilene; Fred Timmons, treasurer, San Antonio; and Linda Johnson, secretary, College Station.

Along with Edgerton, Love, Timmons, and Johnson, the following Texas CPAs will serve on the TSCPA Executive Board:

  • Rick Baumeister, Fort Worth;
  • Leroy Bolt, Abilene;
  • John Broaddus, El Paso;
  • Brad Brown, Beaumont;
  • Janet B. Johnson, Houston;
  • Timothy L. LaFrey, Austin;
  • Gary D. McIntosh, Austin;
  • Terry Newman, Austin;
  • James A. Smith, Dallas; and
  • Robert J. Sweeney, Houston.

Edgerton is managing partner of Midland, Texas-based accounting firm Elms, Faris, & Co., LLP, where he specializes in tax consulting, business valuation, and litigation support.

In addition to his work with TSCPA, Edgerton is a member of the American Institute of CPAs Council and the Texas State University-San Marcos’ Department of Accounting Professional Advisory Council. He also serves as a trustee for High Sky Children’s Ranch Endowment.

Edgerton holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas State University-San Marcos.
