Houston Accountant Named Secretary of Texas CPA Society
Betty Pels Elected New Officer of 27,000-Member Organization

DALLAS — Houston accountant Elizabeth “Betty” Pels, CPA, was elected June 25 as secretary of the 27,000-member Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). TSCPA is the third largest state CPA society in the United States.

As secretary, Pels will serve on the executive board of the TSCPA board of directors. The executive board sets policy, manages programs and oversees activities designed to serve Texas CPAs.
A specialist in petroleum accounting, Pels is assistant controller for Citation Oil and Gas Corp.

Pels holds a master’s degree in business adminstration and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas.
