Texas Governor Lauds CPA Society’s Financial Literacy Efforts
Letter of Commendation Praises TSCPA for Its Statewide Initiative

DALLAS — The Texas Society of CPAs’ financial literacy efforts got a boost recently with a letter of commendation from Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Perry praised TSCPA for mobilizing its 27,000 members in a statewide campaign to educate consumers about sound financial and tax planning practices, saying in his letter “such commitment highlights the best of the Lone Star State.”

A cornerstone of TSCPA’s effort is the consumer Web site www.valueyourmoney.org, which spotlights current financial news affecting Texans and includes answers to common questions about saving, investing, credit, insurance, and other financial topics. Key sections of the Web site are available in both English and Spanish.

Planned in conjunction with the American Institute of CPAs’ financial literacy initiative, TSCPA’s financial literacy push also includes an expanded partnership with Junior Achievement, personal finance workshops for college students, advertisements, public service announcements, and speeches on personal finance topics.
