3 Members Appointed to State Board
Baker to be Presiding Officer

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed five to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and named J. Coalter Baker, CPA-Austin, as presiding officer.
The three CPAs appointed to the Board were recommended to Perry by TSCPA.
Baker is the owner of J. Coalter Baker, CPA/PFS and is being reappointed to the board. He serves the accounting profession through his service on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Professional Ethics Executive Committee, various committees of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and as a recent lecturer in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. Baker has served on numerous non-profit boards in both leadership positions and as a day-to-day volunteer over the last two decades. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. His term will expire January 31, 2013.
Carlos Barrera, CPA-Rio Grande Valley, is a partner of Long Chilton L.L.P. He is past president of the Brownsville Economic Development Corporation and Valley Zoological Society. Barrera is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Additionally, he is a member of the Governmental Finance Officers Association. Barrera received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His term will expire January 31, 2013.
David King, CPA-San Antonio, is a partner of Ernst & Young, L.L.P. He is Vice Chair/Finance of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio and past chairman of the University of the Incarnate Word Business Advisory Committee. King is a member of the AICPA and TSCPA. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. His term will expire January 31, 2013.
Catherine Rodewald of Dallas is managing director of Prudential Mortgage Capital Company and served on the board from 2001-2002. She is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and Commercial Mortgage Securitization Association. Rodewald is a member of the International Women’s Forum and the Executive Women’s Roundtable of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She received a bachelor’s degree from Northwood University. Her term will expire January 31, 2011.
John Steinberg of Marion is being reappointed to the board. He is Director of Safety and Security at Little Caesar of San Antonio, Inc. He is Chairman of the South Texas Safety Council and former Chairman of the Greater San Antonio Society for Industrial Security. He volunteers as a mediator and is a board member of the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center. Additionally, Steinberg is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He received a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University and a master's degree from Central Michigan University. His term will expire January 31, 2013.
