Where The Money Goes

The generosity of Texas CPAs allowed the Foundation to fund 162 student scholarships and four cash awards to educators in the 2006-07 fiscal year.

Scholarship Awards

The Foundation provides scholarship assistance to undergraduate accounting students who plan to become Texas Certified Public Accountants and enter the accounting profession.

Recipients are accounting majors at a Texas college or university and have the intent of becoming a Texas Certified Public Accountant and entering the accounting profession upon graduation. They also must have a high cumulative college GPA and perform well in accounting classes. Recipients receive $1,000 for the academic year. (See specific requirements)

The Foundation also funds the Accounting Careers Scholarship UIL Scholarship Program. High school state UIL accounting competition winners who plan to major in accounting, and rank in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class are awarded $1,000 per year for five years. (See specific requirements)

Classroom excellence is evidenced through instructional innovation, student motivation and the pursuit of practical learning opportunities for students. Professional contribution is evidenced through involvement and accomplishments in accounting organizations and in student accounting organizations.

Recipients receive a plaque in addition to a $1,000 award. (See specific requirements)

What Your Donation Means

"The TSCPA scholarship has truly been a blessing to me in helping me reach my educational goals. Financially, the TSCPA scholarship has allowed me to focus more, not only on my classroom studies, but on learning in a broader sense--reading journals, attending guest lectures, and traveling.

More importantly, I get the sense that there is truly a community of professionals out there willing and expecting to support me as I progress with my career, and that is truly inspiring. —
